La Bonne Franquette – Montmartre

In our minds the restaurants of Montmartre enjoyed a fairly bad reputation deplorable service, products of poor quality for a good addition salt.Until the day we met Patrick Fracheboud, the owner, in the old Montmartre, the restaurant Good Franquette since 1979.It is a wine lover and good “food”. With his wife, he toured France in search of regional products.

It serves, for example, sardine pate de Vendée, duck confit from Sarlat, black pudding with Espelette peppers from the Basque country … His guilty pleasure is the wine! It offers a la carte no less than 150 vintage wines including the famous vineyards of Montmartre.

We were totally seduced by the perfect Charolais with foie gras and sorbet with strawberry-peppermint with Paul Mom. If you like sweet white wine, we recommend Jurançon 2007.The service was pleasant and attentive.

The curious can ask the history of this house 400 years old. In summer you will not hesitate to install the terrace in the shade and quiet!Bon appetit!Website: http://www.labonnefranquette.com/

Arne Quinze – Bridge Installation in Rouen France

ROUEN, FRANCE – For the festival Rouen Impressionnée, the city of Rouen asked Arne Quinze to create an installation, Camille, on the Boieldieu bridge in the center of Rouen. This installation (metal, concrete, fluorescent paint and wood) is going to be 120 meters long, between 6 and 20 meters high and contains 45 kilometres of wood. Eighteen concrete foots carry the weight of the installation, which weights 110 ton in total. The model for Camille is exhibited in the Museum of Modern Art in Rouen.

“ When I visited Rouen and got to see the Boieldieu bridge for the first time, I immediately understood the bridge had to generate social interaction. My installations are all about bringing people back together and connecting them. This public art installation for the bridge over the Seine has the same aim. Inhabitants from the left side will meet inhabitants from the right side underneath the entangled wooden slats. The sculpture is created to evoke emotion and to spark conversation. “

The name Camille is a tribute to Camille Pissaro who painted the bridge several times. It is also a reference to Claude Monet’’s wife, Camille.

Arne Quinze also presents twenty-one new works based on the Water Lilies by  Claude Monet painted in the backyard of his home in Giverny, in L’Abbatiale Saint-Ouen. The first time Arne Quinze laid his eyes on these paintings of Monet he was blown away by the theme, scale, use of colours and the light effects. Although Quinze still paints with his severe brush strikes and splatters, a certain serenity is visible in his new works.

The Coffee Shop and The Muse Merce

A small miracle has to grow on the streets of Paris: a coffee shop, in the tradition of New York, with its traditional coffee machine, dishes and crunchy sweety, and behind the bar, a delicious american accent. Greenwich Village? No, the Marais.

Merce, the owner of this place U.S. light, only in the beautiful, good, and bio. In the bowls, colorful mix of beets, pistachio, watercress, granny, Japanese radish. Under a glass bell, the carrot cakes heart shaped. But on the most deliciously dangerous, is that of blueberries, fresh goat cheese and balsamic vinegar together in a clafoutis that will make you groan with pleasure.

You go in for a take away breakfast. But as there inevitably will cross a regular arty place, there will surely cause for show and decoration around a nutshell. And leave galvanized.

Paris Street Art and Graffiti

Below are some recent examples of how bare walls  and other surfaces become public works of art to be appreciated by everyone. The first three were the panels of a delivery truck unloading in the Marais. The last set of photos was a long mural next door to École Spéciale d’Architecture on the Blvd. Raspail.

Marche – Alexandre Dumas – Paris

Thursday and Saturday mornings see one of the very best Parisian markets at the exit of the metro Alexandre Dumas in Paris.
You will find many producers, including vegetables, fruit, bread, fish, honey … nothing to do with products that can be bought in supermarkets. You can also buy processed and prepared foods on the spot: Lebanese pancakes, sauerkraut, couscous, pasta, fresh Italian fruit juices, jams …

I liked the atmosphere of the market … but there are people too and traders take the time to serve you and you start a kind word.
For me the best products are at the beginning when the market reaches Metro Nation.

le Renard

As many of you know, last year, with Ronny Cohen and Addy Bakhtiar, I work on the opening of the Fox – the best karaoke restaurant in the world! Or so I told my mother …
Located in a former erotic cabaret and theater of varieties in the Marais, is a theater art deco dating from 1923 which is definitely worth a look.

Franklin Azzi , the decorator of the place, made a case for the sublime alongside Johanna Senyk , artistic director of the place, Stephen Kohler and director Victor Magsaysay , the chef, I can receive you.

The official opening the restaurant is scheduled for Tuesday, May 18 . Starting tomorrow, you can book at 01 42 71 86 27. The restaurant will be open from 20:30 to 5 am Tuesday through Saturday.
Address: 12 rue du Renard, 75004 Paris.
The kitchen is made of Asian classics, with a very French touch. The Crying Tiger fashion Salers worth the trip!

By cons, eager to show you the fruit of this work with the team, we decided to open The Fox tomorrow Tuesday, May 11-mode bar from 20.30 always for you to discover this place that I hope will seduce you. If you get hungry, we are happy to offer tastings from our kitchen to come.
